Forward /U. is an interactive choice-coaching program that brings together parents and teens for a day of activities focused on empowering teens to make informed decisions about drugs, alcohol, and other destructive behaviors.

On April 28, 2013 from 1:30 – 5:30pm,  Beaver County will host its second annual Forward /U. event at the CCBC Monaca Campus. The day’s events will include:

• Teen Life Exposed – A competitive, teen-only scavenger hunt aimed to get teens to share, in a non-confrontational and comfortable way, some of the pressures, conflicts, and struggles they experience on a day-to-day basis. 
• Teen Bedroom - This segment is back by popular demand!  Teen Bedroom is a chance for parents to explore a mock teen bedroom and try to find and identify different kinds of drugs and drug paraphernalia.
• CyberSense – A parent-only segment, which will address much needed information regarding the safety of your teen with their electronic and social networking devices.
• Guest Speakers - Community leaders and educators will speak on a variety of imperative subjects that are needed for both being a teen and raising a teen in today’s world.  A local speaker with clinical expertise in counseling families and youth will be addressing the audience on improving communication between teens and their parents.
• Community and Supporter tables:  Community organizations and businesses will sponsor refreshments and display information about local health and wellness services, alcohol-free activities, and community events.
• Prizes & Giveaways - All registered teens receive a /U. drawstring bag, or receive t-shirts if returning teens bring their Forward/U. 2012 drawstring bag with them. The first 20 registered teens will receive iTunes gift cards at the event. Event-day drawings include an iPod Touch and other great prizes.
